Lent is the season of 40 days before Easter, when Christians again follow Jesus on his journey to the Cross. We start this on Ash Wednesday (9th March). This year, many of us joined with the Uxbridge Parish at a special service. As a sign of our sadness at the bad things in our lives but our confidence in God’s love and forgiveness, we have a cross marked on our foreheads. It is made from the burnt Palm Crosses from last year-so it is black; but it is the shape of the cross to remind us that Jesus died that we might be freed to live a new life with God.
