I find it interesting that as humans we like routine and things to stay the same and yet we like new experiences… but only when we choose to do them.
Today’s Lent challenge is to see change as a good thing, it keeps us thinking about who we are and what we are here for. Coming to London has been a big change for me and I am finding it very different not having a mainstream hearing parish in my care. My routine has changed so much I feel a bit lost and confused at times. But the positive bit for me is that I am having to think about who and what I am. What has God called me to be? Do I need to change my thinking about how I worship and how I live out my life as a priest among the Deaf community? These questions might be hard to answer, but through the questions I begin to understand about myself a bit more and hopefully will find myself closer to God as a result. Change is hard work… but is usually worth it and it makes us healthy people.
So today you are asked to try something new… a new food or meal, a new experience maybe a new way to worship or read the bible?
Changing can be very personal and not always appreciated by others.
I am currently reading ‘The Picture Bible’ and I find it fascinating. I have not read it properly for some years till last weekend!
