Today we have the opportunity to choose a new government. Over the past few weeks there have been debates, questions and campaigning on all sides, but it is up to us as citizens of this country to decide who is best to govern for the next five years.
I am saddened by so many comments such as ‘my vote won’t count’,or ‘they are all as bad as each other’. It might seem that they are very similar, it might seem that they are far from perfect, they certainly won’t be able to please everyone. However, if we do not choose our government – there are others who will do so on our behalf. Look around the world and you will see very quickly that we could do a whole lot worse than we have.
As Christians we have a duty and responsibility to cast our vote… with the uncertainty of many marginal seats, your vote could indeed make the difference. We need a strong and stable government and this can only happen if we make the effort to have our say.
One thing I do find frustrating is arriving at the polling station to discover there are more candidates on the ballot paper than I was expecting. If you want to check who is standing in your area have a look at this website https://yournextmp.com then type in your postcode and it will tell you the choice you have today.
Please, please use your vote. It is important for the future and security of our nation.
